My Favorite Look for the Weekend

Happy Monday, friends!

How was everyone’s weekend? Mine was glorious—this was the first time in two weekends I was home, and I really took the time to get all caught up on life. I took care of all the boring stuff—washed my towels, changed my sheets, did my regular laundry, deep cleaned my bathroom, vacuumed, went to the grocery store for the first time in weeks, meal prepped several veggie + protein options, and baked some pumpkin cookies—and now I feel really energized and mentally available for the week.

Even though I conquered my to-do list, I also managed to have a little fun along the way. On Friday night, Monica came over for a movie night and we had a great time chatting about life over our sweetgreen salads, chips + dip, and wine. We watched the 2007 classic Because I Said So. Although it was slammed by the critics, it has long been one of my favorite movies. (Though tbh, I am a sucker for any Diane Keaton movie—I mean, hello Family Stone and Father of the Bride.)

On Saturday evening, I went to the Mount Vernon Fall Wine Festival with my sister, cousin, and aunt—we had the best time! At the event they set up a huge tent next to the mansion—which is located right on the Potomac River—where you can taste wine from all around Virginia. The mansion and wine cellar were also open for tours, and a George and Martha Washington impersonator are on-hand for a photo-op. We were extremely lucky with the weather—clear skies and in the 70s! They host these wine festivals in the fall and spring, and I would definitely go to another one!

Changing gears over to this outfit, which has quickly become one of my favorite weekend ensembles as of late. Monica and I shot these photos while we were staying at The Jefferson Hotel in Richmond, and I love it because this Zara Lace Top x jeans combo is classic, comfortable, and works for a multitude of occasions—brunch, casual Fridays, a wine night with girl friends.

Lately, I’ve been trying to pare down my closet to pieces I love and wear regularly. When Monica came over on Friday, she was seriously surprised at how few clothes I have now as compared to my closet a couple of years ago. I love having staple neutrals like these in my closet because it creates a really easy way to mix and match my favorite pieces into outfits I really feel good in.
