I could have titled this post many things.
Some working drafts I seriously considered: “On Vera Bradley,” “On Why I Wear this Vera Bradley Bag Everyday” or “On the Best Part of Middle School.”
Ultimately, I settled on the title as I recently rediscovered Vera Bradley at SBScon earlier this year, and have been excited to talk about the brand to anyone who will let me. (No, seriously, ask my coworkers.)
Because let’s face it—when I used to think Vera Bradley, I remember the
super awkward good times in my middle school years when the most highly-coveted item was a paisley lunch box. And don’t worry, y’all, Vera Bradley has stayed true to the brand—just check out the liner!—and offer the product they’re known for, but they’ve expanded as well. Case in point: this beautiful Natalie Satchel bag.
Seriously, y’all, I love this bag.
Not only is it large enough to carry all my day-to-day essentials like my wallet, an umbrella—there is nothing I hate more than getting wet while wearing clothes, headphones, gum, emergency mascara, et al, but it’s also not too large that I start to feel like the crazy bag lady. As in, this bad boy is perfect for schlepping to work, but then is not intrusive at a crowded bar during post-work drinks. Plus, there are several pockets on the inside, ensuring I never lose my phone or small items floating around in my bag.
I opted for this beautiful Sycamore Cognac color since I knew this was the perfect “every day bag” I had long since been hunting for, but I am also obsessed with it in Calf Hair Cheetah. I mean, how cute is that?!
Bags aside, I also feel like the changing of the seasons leads to a period of rediscovery in my life. For instance, going through my closet and finding my favorite booties I haven’t worn in months. Remembering the sounds of a football game, or what it’s like to walk to work with a crisp in the air long since forgotten. Rediscovering pumpkin, in all forms—even those not found in nature.
Do you feel that way too?
It’s no secret I’m sad to see summer go. But like finding this great new Vera Bradley bag, I’m excited to rediscover my favorite things about fall. And I think I can rest assured, this new season—especially with my Natalie Satchel in tow—will definitely be better than middle school.
