Earlier this month, my sisters and I took a five-day trip to Cap Cana, Dominican Republic. It was such an amazing vacation — and I felt like I really came back refreshed and recharged, a rarity for me after traveling! This trip came about over Labor Day Weekend when my family was floating the Shenandoah River in Harpers Ferry. Last March, I went to Hawaii and realized it was the perfect time to get out of town — it’s a few months after the holidays, so you’re craving a break from work, and it’s nice to have a warm weather destination on the calendar to look forward to during the cold winter months.
I will definitely write a full recap post of our wintertime Caribbean escape, so stay tuned for that — but today, I wanted to share this Tuckernuck Finley Flutter Sleeve Dress that I picked up for the trip. If you’re anything like me, you always love having a few new things to “debut” on a vacation, and so I used this vacation as an excuse to purchase this dress, which I’ve had my eye on since last summer. While I often gravitate towards black clothing — this dress comes in multiple colors! — I am so glad I ultimately decided on the red color. It is a super fun pop of color, especially in person.
I found that the Tuckernuck Finley Flutter Sleeve Dress runs true to size — it is 100% cotton, but I’ve washed it once on cold and hung it to dry, and it didn’t shrink at all. It is also the perfect fabric for vacation as it’s light, easy-to-wear, and easily hides those wrinkles from being in your suitcase.
On vacation, especially a beach vacation, I don’t like to overcomplicate my outfits — so I kept it simple and paired it with my Round Rattan Crossbody and French Sole Leather Albi Sandals. The latter I bought last summer and they are truly one of my best buys — they’re so comfortable, go with everything, and are extremely well made. While they are definitely on the more expensive side for sandals, I think they are worth every penny and I will definitely be buying another pair when I walk through these.
