Hey y’all, happy Monday! I hope everyone had a nice weekend—I’ve found that since I started working from home back in March, relaxing and recharging over the weekends is so important in helping me prevent burnout. As such, I spent most of my day yesterday on my couch watching Friday Night Lights, which I’ve been rewatching from start to finish. I first fell in love with the series ten years ago and love it just as much as I did then. (It’s on Amazon Prime for free if you need a new show to binge!)
I wanted to pop in today with a quick post about two sundresses I’ve been loving this summer. Since I’m not going into the office right now, most days, I wear workout clothes during the day so I can hit the gym or take a long walk right after I’m done with the workday. I’m not usually someone who hangs out in athleisure all day, but I feel like during a pandemic, anything goes, so I’ve just embraced it. I have the cutest work summer wardrobe, and hopefully I’ll be able to wear it again next year!
That being said, now that things have opened up a little bit, I wanted to add a few sundresses to my wardrobe for drinks on the patio with friends or for grabbing to-go cocktails. While I online shop a lot, over the years, I’ve become really picky about what makes the cut and gets to stay in my closet once it shows up on my doorstep. I really hate buying an item of clothing and then only wearing it once or twice since it’s so wasteful—and costly! Both of these sundresses were added to my closet within the last month and I’ve already worn them both four or five times, so they’ve definitely got my stamp of approval!
While I don’t shop at Madewell often, I’ve had a lot of luck over the years with their sundresses—this one and this one were my favorites for a long time! I had been on the search for a cute little white dress that would be easy to reach for summer after summer, and I when I saw this Madewell Eyelet Ruffle-Sleeve Pintuck Mini Dress, I thought it would fit the bill perfectly. Ordering things online can always be hit or miss, but when I tried it on, I loved it. The ruffle details are so cute, and the high neckline is great if you do want to look a little bit more put together on a Zoom call.
The dress itself is an eyelet shell with a white slip sewn into it. It can sometimes be a little annoying because the slip won’t hang evenly, but the straps are adjustable so it’s a pretty easy fix. While I usually wear a medium in Madewell sundresses, I did size up to a large for this one since it’s 100% cotton so I wouldn’t have to worry too much about it in the wash. I washed it in cold water on the delicates cycle and air dried it, and it barely shrunk!
This dress is so cute and summery, and was perfect to have with me while I was in Charleston a couple of weeks ago. It’s now currently on sale for $89.99 and you can take an extra 30% off with the code WHATADEAL. Shop it HERE!
As I was writing this post, this dress SOLD OUT, so sadly, it’s not available anymore. But, good news—it’s from one of my favorite boutiques ever: The Mint Julep Boutique. I know I’ve sung their praises on here before, but they’re an online shop that carries really cute pieces at affordable prices. I also think their quality is decent—I have some dresses and rompers from them I’ve had for almost four years now.
I really fell in love with this red dress because of the swiss dot pattern and the ruffle sleeves. I’ll let you guys know if I see them restock it, but in the interim, here’s the long sleeve version of the dress in case you’re looking for something similar!
Also! Now that wearing masks is part of my daily routine—we have a mask mandate here in DC where you have to wear one if you’re not in your home—I’ve loved coordinating my masks with my outfits. (We have to make it fun somehow, right?!) These fashion face masks from the Etsy Shop Sunday Ritual Design are my favorite non-medical face masks. You can pick your pattern, they’re comfortable to wear, and they ship really fast. I own three of them and want to expand my collection!
