Y’all want to know what really stresses me out?
Now don’t get me wrong—I love the idea of starting fresh and switching up my space. And considering my current microwave is from 1993, I’m excited about the prospect of joining the modern era of appliances.
But just imagining the prospect of packing up my life and moving it from one home to another? I get exhausted just thinking about it, and I haven’t even so much as thought about buying packing tape yet. As you probably could expect, I have a lot of sh*t.
(All I’m going to say is TGFM—thank gawd for movers!)
So, if you haven’t inferred by now—my roommate and I are moving when our lease is up at the end of June. It’s definitely time for us to move on from our first apartment we’ve called home as adults. I moved into this unit back in September 2013, a few months after college graduation and J moved in about a year later.
We love our current location, the amenities—a gym, a pool, an awesome courtyard, and have befriended the concierges due to our shared penchant for online shopping.
But get this—the rent is so damn high around here that J actually lives in our sunroom, which is essentially a glass fishbowl. As in, she doesn’t have a real door. So now that we’re both making a little more money than we were three years ago, we’re going to splurge and get a true two bedroom.
Wild, I know.
So we took a few hours out of this amazingly beautiful spring weekend and sorted through our options. We think we found a great one, but we should know more in the next few days if it works out. Fingers crossed for us!
When we weren’t sorting out our July move, I spent as much time as I could outside because the weather was literally perfect. Don’t you love it when you can just leave home without any jackets?
Monica and I shot these pictures down on the Old Town Alexandria waterfront, and I hope we can get down there more this spring. There’s something so nice about being on the water! Hope you had a great weekend! x

Agreed – we’re moving in about a month and I’m already stressed out. Haha. Gorgeous outfit!
Good luck girl, we are in the same boat!
I agree, moving is such a pain. But you look adorable though! Love that outfit!
Thanks Cara! x
Love this look! So excited for you about your move 🙂
TGFM – LOL.
So true. There is nothing most overwhelming than packing it up getting rid of stuff and hitting the road to the unknown!
Ugh wishing you all the luck and that time FLIES!
Agreed lady! Thanks os much for the warm wishes! xx
Love the jeans! I need a pair like that! And the top is adorable, too.
Thanks lady! x
Packing is never fun, but SO exciting that you’ll have a new + bigger place to move into and decorate!
Yes! We are trying not to buy all of the home goods!
Such a cute casual look! Love the peplum tank. Moving is definitely a hassle, but it’s always nice when there is an upgrade involved. Good luck!

Thanks so much, Shannon! x
I love moving! It’s the feeling of starting fresh that really gets me. My husband and I are actually moving to Arlington later this summer, and I cannot wait to trash a ton of stuff in the lead up to the move!! That said – totally with you on TGFM!!!
AH! Welcome to Arlington. Good luck with your move, and enjoy those movers!
I’m absolutely loving this look! Your top is so cute! I have a similar clutch from Forever 21 and love it because it goes with just about everything since it has both black and brown on it. 🙂
Thanks so much lady! Don’t you love good finds like that?
Gorgeous – love the sandals. I don’t have nearly enough shoes/sandals for the spring season 🙂
I am sure you will have no problem filling in the gaps.
The peplum top looks great on you! I bought this but had to bring it back. You are rocking it!
Sometimes things work, and sometimes they don’t! Thanks for the kind words :]
UGHHHH moving is basically one of the most stressful things, because aside from money and logistics, it’s hard to find that “right” place! Keep us posted on how that all goes.
Also, these photos turned out beautifully! The waterfront looks like a fun place to hang out at this time of year!
Something About That
Yes! I can happily confirm we were able to sign a lease on the apartment we wanted. Thanks so much, Jackie! Wish you could shoot down here with us.
How exciting! My fiance and I recently moved into a two bedroom and it makes such a difference to have just a little more space for the two of us.
Definitely nice to have the extra space!
Congrats on the move! That’s so exciting! It is definitely daunting packing up all your belongings and moving but it will be well worth it in the end! Love your relaxed weekend look! That top is so cute! I’d love to check out Old Town Alexandria the next time I’m down in DC.
