Alright, so fess up if you’re with me: is there a teeny tiny part of you that’s over sweating it out and ready for fall?
If you know me, you know that I absolutely abhor the cold. I’m pretty much miserable from Thanksgiving through March Madness, and long for the time in my life when I have the money to be a snowbird and escape to the Sun Belt for the winter.
But, I have to confess—the DC heat has been particularly suffocating as of late. I’m over my pre-work sweat sessions induced only by my walk to the Metro, not an intense cardio workout.
So since summer is here to stay for at least several more weeks, I’ve been searching for simple summer outfits to beat the heat in without sacrificing style.
And this Dress Up New Girl Mint Dress? Well, it definitely accomplishes just that.
It’s light and airy—yet lined!—and works well for an appearance at a rooftop bar on weekends or just your average trip to Target when lifting your $100 worth of unplanned merchandise counts as your workout for the day. (Talk about a sweat sesh.)
Since this dress has worked out for me so well and quickly become a staple in my wardrobe, I’ve been considering picking up Dress Up’s Pure Happiness Coral Dress, too. What do y’all think?
As an aside, is anyone else shocked at how fast summer is flying by?
It’s especially crazy since summer was so long this year since Memorial Day was so early, and Labor Day is so late. It almost hasn’t seemed truly like summer since I haven’t been to the beach yet, but I am rectifying that situation next week with my family’s annual trip to Ocean Isle!
I’m excited to lay out and finally work on my summer tan, read for pleasure as much as I want, and enjoy a Blue Moon or two on the beach.
But for the next four days, the beachy colors on this dress will have to do.
