Happy Sunday! This weekend was a super fun one for me—it was one of those weekends where I really need a weekend from my weekend. I’ll be sharing more soon about what I was up to, but I can confidently say that the highlight was watching UVA win the region semi-final game and earn their first trip to the Final Four in my lifetime! I can’t wait to see them play live in Minneapolis on Saturday.
On Friday, I met up with my dinner club gals for our March meeting—we ate at Primrose! Primrose has been on my list for a while since their millennial pink chandeliers have made quite the splash on Instagram. Located in the Brookland neighborhood, it’s a French-inspired wine bar with a great atmosphere. The decor is whimsical and cutes-y and the vibe is cozy. We (obviously!) went for dinner, and although you can’t really tell since I brightened these photos, it was pretty dark in the restaurant, with dim lighting and candles setting the tone. The service was also great—our waiter was attentive without being overbearing, which I think is the best balance.
The menu at Primrose is somewhat limited—it’s one of those places where they choose to do a few things really well rather than taking the Cheesecake Factory approach where they offer you tons of options. Taylor ordered the steak frites, Julie opted for the French onion soup and the mushrooms, and I ordered the burger, which was “Shake Shack style” with two thin patties.
Primrose is also known for their wine selection, so in hindsight, I wish we would have talked to our waiter more about that and asked him what he recommended. I had a delicious sauv blanc with dinner though—excited that it’s almost that time again when we can sip wine on patios again!
I’d definitely go back to Primrose and would love to try their brunch.
