Sing it with me—just another tequila sunriseeeee!
It’s one of my college BFF’s L’s 25th birthday today, and I couldn’t think of a better cocktail to cheers her with. This pineapple sunrise cocktail is a twist on the classic tequila sunrise that’s made with orange juice, tequila, and grenadine.
When M, L, and I all lived in the sorority house together during our third year of college, we technically weren’t supposed to drink in the house even though we were 21. Yet, like clockwork, every Friday and Saturday, we’d run out to our cars where we stored our alcohol in our trunks and bring it into Lauren’s room to drink off her “bar” (aka her secretary desk). We made some questionable choices back then—my go-to was Crystal Light and Aristocrat vodka—but Lauren always made the most beautiful tequila sunrises, and I always associate them with her now.
Also—one of the reasons I made these today was because I had a lot of leftover pineapple juice from when I made these mango pineapple rum cocktails a few weeks ago. So I thought showing you this pineapple-based cocktail today would be a tasty way to use up any extra juice you may have on hand!
Ingredients // Per Serving
- 5 ounces pineapple juice
- 1.5 ounces tequila (standard shot glass)
- splash of grenadine
Directions
- Pour chilled tequila and pineapple juice into a standard rocks glass.
- Once liquid has settled and there are no visible bubbles, pour a splash of grenadine in.
- Enjoy! (The “sunrise” effect will stay until you stir the drink or take a sip as it will stir up naturally.)
YUM! I make this drink all the time except with rum instead of tequila. Happy birthday to your college BFF!
Ah that sounds up my alley, too! xx
