Happy Hump Day y’all!
Sorry for the radio silence over here the last few days. I spent the end of last week in New Orleans and didn’t get back until late Sunday night. Weekends are usually when I put together all my blog posts, so needless to say, I’ve been playing catch up.
Now that I’m back from The Big Easy, I’m staying put for a while, which is even more exciting since I moved into a new place a little under two months ago! Though all the boxes are unpacked, I’ve been in-and-out of town so much it will be nice to finally make some memories here and feel settled.
Of course, a new apartment is the perfect excuse to pick up some new home decor and I’ve been thinking really strategically about what new pieces and fun accessories I want to purchase, especially for my room! Since my new place costs a little more in rent and all the aforementioned travel means more meals out and more Ubers on the go, I’ve been extremely price conscious. Luckily, I recently discovered Octer, which has quickly become my favorite way to shop.
Essentially, Octer is a mobile app and online shopping platform that aggregates a ton of your favorite retailers—think Bloomingdales, Nordstrom, Saks, and other major stores—into one site. You can then search for an item and it shows you all the variations in price and color offered so that you can pick the best deal for what you’re looking for! You can also browse by item category if you have no idea on where to start. While I’ve been hanging out in their Home Decor tab, they are a one-stop shop for everything from clothes to beauty to sports and more.
I’ve always wanted to try a Diptqyue candle, and with Octer, was able to find one about $10 cheaper than the average Internet price! There’s just something about burning candles that makes me feel at home, and my roommate and I love lighting one on Saturday nights in or after a long day at work. This Baies one is the perfect fresh scent for a new place.
In addition to sourcing new candles, my roommate and I are doing some other projects I’ll share in full soon! I took my champagne mardi gras bead art to get professionally framed and can’t wait for it to come back so we can hang it. I also am framing a sample of the Beverly Hills Hotel wallpaper for my room and on the hunt for a new piece of art for over my bed.
We’re also in the market for the perfect chaise for our sunroom and are going to style up a bookshelf for there as well. We’re both big readers so it’ll be nice to have a dedicated reading room. If you have any tips for decorating apartments or small spaces, we’re all ears!
Thank you to Octer for sponsoring this post. As always, opinions are my own. Thank you for supporting the brands that keep A Touch of Teal’s doors open!
Sounds like such a cool (and timesaving) site! Your new place is coming along great…can’t wait to see the new framed pieces!!
Thanks Monica! xo
