Hi, friends! How was everyone’s weekend?
Mine was great—I went to Charlottesville to spend time with my college roommates. We ate at all our favorite places (hello, Bodo’s), went to a vineyard, and relived our college Saturday nights by going out out. The icing on the cake was that extra hour of sleep! If you’re planning a trip to Charlottesville yourself, I shared all my favorite places to eat, drink, and explore in my Charlottesville travel guide.
Now onto the business of today’s post—even though I haven’t decked the halls of my apartment yet, I wanted to start decking the halls around here. There’s a few reasons for that.
First, I want to be transparent in that Black Friday is a high-earning day from affiliate links for me, so the earlier I start sharing holiday content, the higher my income is likely to be. If you’re unfamiliar, when you click on a product link on my site and purchase an item from that retailer, I receive a (small) commission. For instance, if you buy a $100 sweater, I may receive $3-5—the exact amount is set by the retailer. This income is how I help pay for website hosting/security/backups, my domain name URL, and any tools I use to help with the blog like Planoly and Dropbox. I make between $100-300 a month from affiliate links, so trust me when I say, while it’s nice side money—my day job is still what’s paying my rent.
Second, if you’re anything like me, you like to get most of your shopping done early—and you’re a sucker for a Black Friday sale. So, my aim is to provide you several holiday gift guides before then so you’ve got some inspiration before the ~actual~ holiday season rolls in. (Though I will say, I have started letting a few holiday songs sneak into my Spotify playlists…) I’ll also try to intersperse some “regular” content throughout so as to not overload you with the festivities.
SO, with that housekeeping out of the way, I wanted to kick off holiday 2017 content with one of my favorite holiday traditions I share with my sisters—matching pajamas on Christmas Eve.
For some of you, this is a tradition you’ve been doing for years. When we were younger, my mom dressed me and my sister, Jennifer, in matching pajamas on Christmas Eve, but at some point, we started to have stronger opinions about what we wore—probably when we started shopping at Limited Too—and the tradition fell to the wayside.
A couple of years ago, I stumbled across some really cute waffle-knit thermal pajamas from Old Navy that I thought would be perfect for the holidays. I texted my sisters and we decided to start a new tradition—or, I suppose, revive an old one—and wear matching pajamas to bed on Christmas Eve. (Here we are in last year’s, which we snagged from Nordstrom.)
We’re planning on keeping the tradition alive this year and have started debating which style we want to go for this year. (I’ll let you know which ones we ultimately settle on!)
If you love holiday pajamas like we do, now is the time to buy (whether you plan to match with a group or not!) because everything is pretty much in stock in all sizes—which will be a huge issue the day after Black Friday, trust me—so you have your pick of the best patterns. I’ve rounded up some of my favorite “Christmas Jammies” on the market this year for you (shown above + below), and would love to know if you have any favorite traditions you’re getting a head start on this year—let me know in the comments below.
