Festive Watermelon Daiquiris for July 4th

One of my favorite things about living in DC is that we have an awesome Fourth of July celebration. There really is nothing like celebrating Independence Day in the Nation’s Capital! Though I used to love to trek down to the National Mall and watch the fireworks firsthand, nowadays, my friends and I prefer to gather on someone’s apartment rooftop to take in the show with a cocktail in-hand instead. (We’re getting smarter with age!)

This year, I’m in charge of the cocktail, and I thought it would be fun to mix up some frozen watermelon daiquiris using the Master of Mixes one-step watermelon daiquiri / margarita mix for the gang. No flavor reminds me more of summer than watermelon, and a frozen drink is absolutely necessary to combat DC’s hot, humid heat, so I know these will be the perfect refreshment. Since Master of Mixes products are made with real fruit, picked at peak ripeness, I don’t have to do any guesswork when it comes to blending up a delicious daiquiri—meaning I can spend more time toasting with friends to celebrate the good ol’ US of A.

Blending up these frozen watermelon daiquiris couldn’t be easier. To start, fill your blender with ice—I’d recommend starting with about two cups of ice per person, and you can add more later if needed. Then, for each person, add 2 ounces (one large shot) of your favorite rum and 5 ounces (a little over half a cup) of the Master of Mixes watermelon daiquiri / margarita mix. Blend until smooth, and garnish with fresh watermelon and blueberries.

As the name of the cocktail mixer indicates, Master of Mixes makes super versatile products, so if you and your friends prefer margaritas, feel free to swap the rum out for tequila.

Cheers! x
