Now that it’s December, I feel like the holidays are in full swing and my calendar is busier than any other time throughout the year! This week is particularly fun for me as we have blogger Christmas dinner on Wednesday night—Kristyn is graciously hosting and we’re all bringing an ornament to do a little white-elephant-style exchange. I look forward to our dinner every year and am so grateful we have so many good memories and good times ahead to celebrate! Then, on Thursday, it’s my company’s annual holiday party. This year it’s at The Mayflower Hotel downtown and my coworkers and I are all heading to DryBar before the event to get our hair done. It should be such a fun night—I always feel in the holiday spirit after the event!
I think winter is the hardest season to get dressed for work. I have about a 10-minute walk to the Metro and a 25-minute Metro ride as part of my commute, which means I really have to dress for the elements. As such, I don’t ever wear skirts or dresses without tights and usually have to wear UGGs and change into my flats/heels after the temperate drops below 40—otherwise, my feet freeze on the walk! Don’t even get me started on the worst weather combination there is: when it’s cold (but not cold enough to snow) and rainy—hard pass.
A few weeks ago, I was online shopping and came across this LOFT Plaid Shift Skirt and knew I had to have it—not only is it a great workwear piece when paired with my favorite Hue Satin Tights, it’s also a fun festive skirt to have in my wardrobe for years to come.
I find that most LOFT skirts run true-to-size and this Plaid Shift Skirt is no exception. Though I wear petite pants at LOFT, I buy regular sizes in skirts, especially the ones I want to wear to work, so they are a bit longer. I love how classic this pattern is—and, as an added bonus, there are pockets!
I wear my BP Lance Block Heel Booties to work a lot in the winter—they look so great with black tights and are comfortable enough I can walk around in them all day. Because the heel is a bit higher, I usually do wear my UGGs on the commute and then change into these once I arrive at the office. They are comfortable enough to walk long distances in, but I can walk much faster in my UGGs.
I’d love to know what you’re wearing to work this holiday season!

As an aside, Kimberly and I shot these photos at the Dolcezza in City Center and it’s the cutest gelato and coffee shop! It’d also be the perfect place to bring a laptop and post up for the afternoon if you needed to get some work done.
