Link Love #29

It’s been a while since we’ve had a good link love around here!

Even though it was the week after the 4th of July holiday, I felt oddly rested and ready to tackle anything that came my way. We’ve reached the midterm point in the semester at grad school which means that class work is really going to start heating up—but, I’ve got trips on the horizon to look forward to: NYC, Ocean Isle, Winston Salem, and Nashville, with hopes of heading to Dallas and Boston before it turns chilly. While it’s technically been summer for a while now, now that we’ve celebrated Independence Day, it feels like the season is really here and I am ready to take full advantage this weekend.

As for now, here’s what I’ve been loving on the Internet the past few weeks—let me know if you’ve found anything good!:

OMG that Secret Service naming article is hilarious. I remember on the West Wing when everyone found out their names and CJ was Flamingo or something and go soooo mad. Love her. I miss President Bartlett! 😉

  2. Loved the article about over-using “just”. I try to catch my own use of “sorry” but I think I’ll add “just” to the list too. I loved the piece on code names! It made me want to re-watch The West Wing again. I think Reagan probably had the best one. I’d be curious to know Hilary Clinton’s and Michelle Obama’s too. If I could pick my own I’d probably go with “Freddy Mercury”. 😉

That LinkedIn article about the word “Just” was really interesting! I’ve noticed that about myself as well and am now committing myself to saving it for real situations of uneven power dynamics/deferring respect. Also, that article on code names was pretty funny! Makes you wonder what your own codename would be if you had the opportunity!!

I DEFINITELY say just too much. I completely agree – I don’t even know what code name I would pick for myself if given the option!

This is more of a commentary on one of the articles, but in Atlanta, it is so much more expensive to rent than it is to buy a home. We got to the point where we realized we couldn’t afford to rent even though it gave us more potential flexibility in the future.

Ah, that is so interesting! What a crazy market place. I work in real estate so the renters market is definitely something I like to know about!
