One Dress, Two Ways

I could not think of a more appropriate day for this post—a Tuesday that feels like a Monday.

You see, this J Crew Factory Striped Chambray Ruffle Neck Dress is technically supposed to be worn over your shoulders. But when Monica and I woke up in Annapolis, the summer shandy from the night before was still working some of its magic and I inadvertently found another way to style this dress with the ruffles under your arms since the arm holes are so small.

Talk about a win-win, right? And an easy way to avoid some awkward tan lines if you’re out and about playing tourist like we were.

But enough about my mistake that paid off—especially since this dress is on sale for $35—how was your 4th of July?

Like most long weekends, I had grand plans of getting a ton of my sh!t done. I was going to blog for the week, wrap up a branding presentation for school, and finish the library book that expires in two days.

None of that happened—instead, I just enjoyed some good old wasted time. I went up to my friend Jackie’s lake house on Deep Creek Lake in Maryland, and we enjoyed a relaxing weekend on the boat, riding jet skis, and checking out the local watering holes. I could not have asked for a better weekend celebrating the good old U-S-A and hanging with a wonderful friend and her family.

While I had brought this dress to wear lakeside, the weather in the mountains had other plans, and instead, we enjoyed some nice chilly summer nights. Hopefully the weather will be a tad warmer in DC this coming weekend, and I can break it out again.

A note before I sign off for today—I am moving in two weeks, and have absolutely nothing packed. Combine that with a relaxing holiday weekend and a busy upcoming one, there is little time left for blogging. I’ll try to post as often as I can, but it might not be as often as I have been. Thanks for your patience! x

Still convinced the first iteration of this dress is the right one buttt J.Crew Factory had something else in mind. Thank goodness the rules of fashion are meant to be broken and adapted sometimes!

This is so cool – I love that you can wear that dress more than one way. I also love all the accessories – those Sole Society scalloped sandals are totally calling my name! Have a great week!
