Happy Monday, y’all!
Since I only worked two days last week after my trip to Park City, I have a feeling this week is going to seem a little longer than normal for me.
I am planning on sharing a recap of my trip this week, but if there’s one thing I realized on this vacation, it’s that I love traveling not only for the adventure, but for the new perspective on my daily life. I came back from Utah refreshed and excited to get back into my routine, which to me indicates even though it’s not all sunshine and roses, it’s pretty darn good.
While vacation is fun, it’s such a limited part of our lives—most days are spent where we live full-time heading to work or school. The older I’m getting, the more I’m realizing how important it is to love where you live since that’s where you spend the majority of your time.
Now that I’m back on that workweek grind, I thought it’d be fun to kick off things with another what I (actually) wear to work, especially since it finally feels like spring has arrived in the Mid Atlantic.
Since it’s chilly before and after work, I love pairing a long sleeve shirt with a pencil skirt. Anything to avoid wearing a jacket, you know? I have a pretty high tolerance for cold, and my walk to and from the metro is sub five minutes, so this works well for me. If it’s super chilly, I’d definitely add a trench or cardigan.
I started getting into the pencil skirt game when I interned at Glamour, but as any pencil skirt wearer knows, it’s really important to find the right fit. Right now, I’m absolutely loving the J Crew Factory Basketweave Pencil Skirt. It’s a thicker cotton that holds its shape throughout the day, and it comes in petite length, which is perfect for me. (Hopefully they’ll introduce a tall line soon!)
If I’m wearing wedges or higher heels, I usually commute in my Jacks during the spring, but these J Crew Factory patent sandals are seriously the best shoes I own. They go with everything, and are so comfortable. I can wear them all day and still live to tell the tale. A rare feat!
I’d love to know what y’all are wearing to work this spring, and if there are any must-haves I should snag! Let me know in the comments below! x

This is such a cute look! Stripes and polka dots are my favorite 🙂 Totally agree with you on loving where you live! Vacations are a couple weeks out of the year, but you’re city or area is where you can spend a lot of good times. I just did a post today on how to be a tourist in your own city! Too funny 🙂 haha anyways – love this look!

Thanks so much lady! I did a post on how to be a tourist in your own city once, too! Great minds :]
I love seeing how others mix patterns and do it so well (your outfit is too cute)! I, on the other hand, am terrified of mixing patterns myself. I also love what you said about being excited about getting back to your routine and how that indicates that it’s a good one. I recently realized this a couple of weeks ago when I had to stay home the majority of the week due to a child with the flu. I was so eager to get back to our normal routine (including going to work)!
Aw thanks so much! This is really one of my first tries at mixing patterns, but I love this combo! Yes! Nothing like being sick to make you want to get back in the swing of things. Hope you feel better!
Love the mix of patterns! I lived in Park City after college, worked at Deer Valley teaching babies how to ski for a few months, did you love it!?

I love how you matched the polka dots and stripes then tied in the outfit with a neutral handbag! Such a cute style and I’d totally wear that to work too 😉
