Greenhill Winery & Vineyards

Happy Friday!

Today in particular, I’m raising my glass to all our Veterans who have served this great nation. In particular, to my Pop Pop, who I have no doubt he’s now faithfully serving the big man upstairs in the sky, where he loved to be. x

This past Sunday, I went out to Greenhill Winery & Vineyards with three of my best friends from Georgetown. We decided that wine was a must to celebrate our midterms being turned in and only about a month until our last day of class (hopefully) EVER! Located in historic and charming Middleburg, Virginia, it’s about a 55-minute drive from DC, but worth every minute in the car.

One of my favorite things about Greenhill is that they do all tastings at your table. This means, you can sit back, relax, and enjoy the views of the Virginia Blue Ridge without have to stand at a crowded bar or feel rushed between pours. We posted up at a large picnic table, and each had our own bench. Despite some slight winds, it was still warm enough we could sit outside and enjoy the day.

The tasting menu included one sparkling, three whites, and three reds. The sparkling, the Blanc de Blancs, was in the Oscar swag bag one year and thus is a fan favorite all around. My personal favorites were the Viognier, which was chilled to perfection, and the Seyval Blanc, a favorite of Michelle Obama’s. (They even have a letter from her on White House stationery  inside the tasting room, which is pretty cool to see!)

We split a bottle of the latter and shared some of the delicious food Greenhill sells on-site—a fresh baguette, fig jam, oregano cheese, prosciutto, and brie. Your server rings you up at the end for everything you purchase, so splitting the bill among friends evenly is a breeze.

For the colder days ahead, Greenhill is very close to opening up a new tasting room, which I’m excited to check out! If you’re hitting the Virginia Wine trail this weekend—or any weekend, really!—definitely add Greenhill to your list as I think it’ll be a fan favorite for years to come.

Enjoy your weekend! x

What a picture-perfect time! This place looks amazing – I haven’t been to a winery in so long so I’m adding this to my list!

This looks like the best day ever! Visiting wineries is kind of my new favorite hobby- although Florida doesn’t have nearly as many as y’all do! Have an awesome weekend!
