Happy Monday, friends!
This weekend was one for the books—I spent the weekend at The Jefferson Hotel in Richmond, Virginia with Monica. A full recap and details of our time at The Jefferson—spoiler, we didn’t want to leave—and in Virginia’s state capital coming soon, but I couldn’t wait to share a little bit about our trip.
Monica and I drove down after work on Friday and, after stopping for paninis at Wawa, were given such a warm welcome to Richmond. The Jefferson had a a bottle of chilled champagne and a beautiful cheese and fruit plate waiting for us in our room when we checked in. We originally had plans to go out and find a night cap somewhere, but once we were drinking champagne in our hotel robes and realized Legally Blonde was on, I think you can guess we stayed put for a night in and some good old fashioned girl talk.
We jammed a lot of fun things into our Saturday—the farmer’s market, brunch, a cidery, a stroll through Carytown—before meeting up with Laura, Jenn, and Kristyn for dinner. These ladies are some my best blogger friends in DC and it was great comparing notes on RVA and sharing stories from our Saturday. After dinner, we headed to a rooftop bar for a nightcap, and enjoyed breathtaking views of the city. Despite it being nearly October, it was in the 80s, so I am glad we were able to take full advantage of a cocktail al fresco before the temperatures start to drop.
Funny story—Jenn, Monica, and I were Ubering from dinner to the rooftop bar and realized the last passenger had left her purse in the backseat. Luckily, the Uber driver knew where he had dropped her off, so Jenn and Monica ran her purse into the house party where she was while our Uber driver and I cheered them on. They offered us beer as a reward—hah!
I wore this all-black black outfit for cocktails and dinner out with the gals on Saturday night. While I generally wear more colors in the summer, come fall and winter, I love wearing black. It’s easy to mix-and-match my favorite pieces and it always makes me feel pulled together and confident.
These Loft Modern Skinny Jeans are my go-to for jeans of any color. The black ones do fade overtime, so I generally buy a new pair about once a year. However, when LOFT runs one of its 40% off sales they are only about $40—very affordable! I buy the petite length which is the perfect length for me—I’m 5′ 4″.
I recently picked up this Hinge Bib Top from Nordstrom and really like it for both work and play. It’s currently sold out on Nordstrom, but check back—since the season is still fresh, there’s a chance they will restock! I will say, it is a tad on the shorter side, so when I wear it to work, I generally like to tuck it into a skirt as opposed to wearing it with pants like I am here.
I’ll check back in and share more about our trip to Richmond later this week! x
