Some people’s idea of the perfect date is April 25th because all you need is a light jacket. Mine on the other hand, involves brunch, a good gal pal, and a mani/pedi.
Luckily for me, this past Sunday included all of those things when my good friend Monica and I headed up to Rockville’s Purebeauty Salon and Spa for a little escape from the city. Since summer is coming up—who else is stoked for the long weekend?!—we thought it’d be the perfect time to get our nails ready for sandal season.
But first, like the good yuppies we are, we stopped by the popular local brunch joint, The Original Pancake House, for some hash browns and flapjacks.
Needless to say, we have absolutely no regrets about our pre-salon carb loading session.
When we arrived at Purebeauty, we were given the warmest welcome by the staff and immediately offered water which, because of the aforementioned carbs, was greatly appreciated ;].
First up for me and Monica: pedicures! After a long winter and many long walks to class, this was just what the doctor ordered. After surveying the expansive color collection offered, I settled on white. Because really, who says you can’t wear white before Labor Day?
Monica opted for a brighter color, and we were able to sit next to each other in our relaxing self-massaging chairs while our nail technicians gave us an awesome pair of pedicures. We especially enjoyed the innovative body science products they used—think an awesome sugar scrub and massage lotion that prepped our legs for all the shorts and sundresses in our near future.
Of course, we couldn’t neglect our finger nails either, so manis were next on the agenda. I opted for white again and love how coordinated my nails all look right now.
It was equally as wonderful that Monica and I were able to sit next to each other (again!) and talk blogging, summer vacation plans, new wardrobe purchases, and everything in-between while Purebeauty’s professionals were hard at work making our nails look fab.
I mean, that’s really what girls day is all about, right?

A huge thank you to Purebeauty Rockville for hosting me and Monica for the afternoon! While I received complimentary services, all opinions expressed here are my own. Thanks for supporting the brands that keep A Touch of Teal’s doors open!
I love the white nails! That is my favorite for early summer because it looks so bright and clean. I’m also a big fan of pancake house dates. I never make pancakes at home so it’s an indulgence I have only when I go out for them.
Thank you Ashley! I could not agree more — I think I am going to buy a bottle so I can do them at home myself soon! So glad we share a love of carbs :]
It looks like you and Monica had a lovely time, and I love that you matched your nails and toes with white polish. All white is so right!
I love that phrase – all white is so right! Thanks for everything, Helen! xo
