It’s officially the most wonderful time of the year! It’s hard to believe that Christmas is a month from yesterday. Even though Thanksgiving was on the earlier side this year, I know this holiday season is going to fly by!
I spent most of the Thanksgiving weekend at home in Fairfax with my family, and we had a great time kicking off the Christmas season with out first showing of Home Alone. My sisters take the lead on decorating my parents’ house nowadays, but I love watching them transform it into holiday central—this time of year is really magic. In years past, I’ve decorated a seven foot faux Christmas tree in my apartment, but my new Dupont Circle apartment does not have that kind of real estate available for seasonal decor. So, I’m putting lights on my fiddle leaf fig, adding holiday linens, and changing out a few vase fillers to bring the magic of the season into my little home.
One new tradition my family is starting is a Secret Santa stocking exchange. In the past, Santa (aka my mom!) has done all our stockings, but this year, we decided to draw names to fill each other’s stockings. We set a $50 budget and started a Google Doc where we all can write in a few small things/our favorite candy to give whoever has our name some ideas, but I am also very excited to take some creative liberties and really think about what my family member will love on Christmas morning!
I’ll be sure to share a little bit more about my family’s Christmas traditions as the season goes on, because I love hearing about how other people celebrate the holidays and finding new ideas for us! But today, I wanted to talk about these Express Sequin Leggings, which have been a staple in my closet the last few holiday seasons. And, good news, they are currently in stock in all sizes!
I’ve worn these leggings for the past two New Years Eves and to a few holiday parties in between—they are a great way to be festive while still getting to wear something super comfortable and warmer than your typical holiday party attire. Since they are on the louder side, I typically keep the rest of my outfit pretty neutral with a black blouse and shoes, but I also think these Express Sequin Leggings would look great with a white or red blouse if black isn’t your thing.
I will note that the pair Express is currently selling are high-waisted—mine aren’t, but I wish they were! Because they are velvet-lined, I’ve found they aren’t as stretchy as regular leggings. As such, if you’re in between sizes, I would recommend sizing up.
