To say I hoard jewelry is a bit of an understatement. My dresser is overflowing with bangles, statement necklaces, and watches for all occasions. Yet I find myself showing favoritism to the same pieces over and over, styling them accordingly with different outfits. These tried and true (or lets be real, Forever 21) pieces sometimes break, and because I am oddly sentimental, I hate just throwing them in the trash. Since college, I have instead used the broken jewelry pieces to decorate picture frames and love the end result. Less expensive than off-the-shelf frames, not to mention more unique, this DIY jewelry frame is an awesome project if you’re unsure of what to do what broken jewelry—and they are great gifts for birthdays, holidays, or big sis week.

Broken Jewelry
4×6″ Wood Picture Frame
Acrylic Paint
Foam Brush
Glue Gun
Directions //
1. Remove any remaining elastic or chain from jewelry.
2. Paint several coats of acrylic paint (I used Craft Smart’s Pink Blast) onto the frame in the direction of the wood. Acrylic paint dries relatively quickly, but be aware it does permanently stain clothes.
3. Once the frame is dry, arrange your jewelry onto the frame before you glue it down to perfect the layout. After you’re happy how everything looks, use a glue gun to secure the jewelry in place.
4. Insert a picture into the frame and enjoy!
