The Best Desk-to-Drinks LBD

We’re only in week one of December, and I already feel like the holidays are in full swing! I’ve been running errands after work like mad this week—picking up bottles of wine for holiday parties, buying presents for those on my nice list, returning a few Black Friday buys.

This weekend as I was out picking up a few gifts for people, I stumbled into my new favorite store on 14th Street here in DC—Miss Pixie’s Furnishings & Whatnot. It’s a vintage home furnishings store and they have a little something for everyone—furniture, drink ware, place settings, art, matchbooks, books. They get a new delivery every Thursday and pretty much everything in the store is one-of-a-kind. I was in heaven, and it’s gong to be my new go-to spot for sourcing gifts for others and finding unique pieces for my apartment. I’ve been reading A Life Less Throwaway: The Lost Art of Buying for Life, and it’s really made my think about my habits as a consumer—so I love the idea of buying vintage and giving an old object new life.

Next week, I’m heading to San Antonio for a few days with my mom—it’s a city that’s been on our lists for a long time now and I am excited we can check it off together! I’ve been doing some research this week ahead of our trip, but if you have any must sees/dos/eats in San Antone, let me know! After I return from that trip, I’m heading up to NYC for the weekend to hang with my friend Emma—it’ll be so good to see her! I’ve also never been to New York City during Christmastime  and am so excited to see all the decorations and store windows!

I bought this Charles Henry Bell Sleeve Shift Dress this fall and it has quickly become one of my favorite closet staples—it works for almost any occasion, including the holidays! I love the bell sleeves and the fabric washes and dries really well. I’ve worn it to work with tights and booties, I’ve worn it to a wedding, and I’ve worn it to a holiday party like I’ve styled here. If you have a holiday party after work, but don’t have time to do a full change, you could easily take this dress from desk to drinks by swapping out more conservative accessories for my favorite  Baublebar Contessa Tassel Earrings!

I’ve owned a few Charles Henry dresses over the years and I’ve always found they run on the larger side, so if you’re in-between sizes, definitely size down. I’m wearing a medium here for reference and am 5’4″.

I picked up these fun glitter block heels from Old Navy last year—this year’s version here and here!—and they are probably the only impulse buy I’ve ever made that I haven’t regretted. Old Navy’s block heels are super comfortable—I own them in multiple colors now—so much so that I can walk in them all day around the office and easily commute to/from work in them if desired. You can’t beat the price tag on these!
