The Cutest DC Happy Hour Spot

Happy hump day! This week has felt really long—even though I had Monday off since I was down in Atlanta last weekend for my cousin’s wedding and came back exhausted from all the fun. BUT! I had the best time hanging out with my extended family and really did not want the festivities to end. I have the post wedding blues even though I wasn’t the bride, hah! This coming weekend, I am heading to Quebec City, Canada with my sisters and I could not be more excited! To make sure I can relax on that trip, I’ve really been sprinting to try to get everything at work and at home in a good place. I can see a light at the end of the tunnel though and am excited to vacate the ~real world for five days and explore a destination

Last Thursday, a coworker who was in town for meetings from our Texas office joined me at my favorite Thursday night Soul Cycle class and afterwards, we joined a few other coworkers at Calico here in DC on Blagden Alley. It was my first time getting there this summer season—I went last summer and was immediately hooked on their beautiful, lively patio, so I was excited to venture back. (They have a beautiful interior dining area + bar, too, and it opens up to the patio in warm weather so it feels like one cohesive space.)

Calico is known for their adult juice boxes that they serve up in Capri Sun-esq pouches. They have two flavors—Blagden Rose, which is made with vodka, passion fruit, pineapple, and cranberry, and What’s in the Baayg, which is made with rum, bourbon, Giffard banana, walnut orgeat, lime, and pineapple. I always get the Blagden Rose and it is delicious! I will say it’s on the sweeter side, so I usually switch to wine after one, but it’s definitely worth ordering one ~for the gram.~

This night was also a really fun one for me because it was my first night out with coworkers from my new job at a non-work event. We just went out as friends, and it was so much fun to bond with them outside of the office. I came home on such a high, and now that it’s been six months at my new job—if I can even still call it that?—I really am started to feel settled in with my teammates. Can’t wait for more happy hours like this one!
