The Coloring Book I’m Loving During Quarantine

Checking in from my quarantine cabin here in Dupont Circle—hope everyone is having a nice week! This is my fifth week of working from home, and I feel like the whole thing has been a rollercoaster of emotions. I have good days and bad days, but so far this week (knock on wood), I’ve felt really good and been in a good headspace. I honestly think it’s because work has been busy, which keeps my mind off everything else and makes the days fly by.

Popping in with a quick post today—a few weeks ago I was sitting on my couch watching TV on a Friday night and realized that I needed something to do while relaxing that wasn’t mindlessly playing on my phone. So I bought the cutest coloring book of fashion illustrations from an artist named Brittany Fuson—and it was only $12! Paired with a set of old Crayola colored pencils I’ve been sharpening with a makeup sharpener, it’s been a very worthwhile purchase. (If you follow me over on Instagram, then this is old news since I’ve talked about it frequently there—but given some folks don’t read my blog and vice versa, I wanted to make sure I talked about it here, too!)

What I love about this coloring book is that it makes me feel like a fashion designer and it really gets my creative juices flowing! The possibilities are endless and I love thinking through what each girl my book will be wearing! In my real life, I wear a lot of black, so it’s also fun to play with color clothing here. Each illustration keeps me busy coloring for a solid 30-45 minutes—before this, I probably hadn’t colored anything in over a decade.

If you’re looking for a fun quarantine buy that also supports a small business, I can’t recommend this coloring book enough!
