Happy Monday, y’all!
My flight got in from Florida around 10 pm last night, and needless to say, because of my beach bum status this weekend, I did not do any blogging. Usually, I shoot images and edit them on Saturdays, and then write new posts and schedule social media on Sundays. This weekend, I happily did neither!
So instead of playing catch-up all week—which happens to be the start of a new Georgetown semester—I’m going to take a blogcation this week. I love blogging and am so glad it has become such a big part of my life, however, it can be really hard and really draining to churn out three or four new blog posts a week at the quality that I want. Sometimes I just want to go home after work and indulge in some Trader Joes table wine and the Little People, Big World marathon without a laptop in my lap, you know? So I’m excited to take a break, walk away for a bit, and come back to this little place on the Internet with a fresh set of eyes once it’s officially summer.
But, I know how bummed I am when I go to a blog and there’s nothing new to read, so I wanted to give you guys some good options for content to explore in my absence, and I will see you in about a week!
LADY LOVIN’ PODCAST: I will seriously talk to anyone who will listen about this podcast. I discovered it recently while on the rabbit hole that is YouTube. Lo Bosworth has a channel there, and in one of her “ask me anything” videos I shamelessly watched for scoop on Laguna Beach, she mentions this podcast she does with her two best friends, Greta and Jilly. I listened to one episode, and I was hooked! New episodes come out every Monday, but I’ve gone back and listened to them all in the past month. It does take some time to figure out everyone’s voice, and some of the earlier episodes have lower sound quality than the later ones. My favorite episodes have been #35: Growing Up in a Funeral Home, #14: Women Who Rule with Katia Beauchamp, who’s the co-founder of Birchbox, and Episode #3 Weddings with Cassandra Bette, who’s a top wedding planner. It’s seriously like chatting with your three best gals—I laugh through every episode.
PERSONAL NOTES BY JESS: I love pretty much everything Jess churns out on her blog, The Golden Girl, but her personal notes are always my favorite. Tell me I am not the only nosy person out there?! It’s just nice to catch a glimpse at the gal behind the screen sometimes, and I think Jess has such a relatable writing style that I feel like I’m hanging with a best friend when I read her posts. I especially love this post she wrote about fate and the story of how she met her fiancé. (PS. If you’re a blogger, she has a great “Ask Jess” weekly video series where she drops a lot of good insight!)
MOTHERHOOD POSTS BY LIZ: Even though I am not a mom, or even close (#livingmyselfishyears), I love Liz’s honesty in her six months, three months, and one month with Charlie posts. She does a great job at keeping it real and being honest, without putting too much out there on the Internet—something I am working on emulating. She’s also one of my favorite people to follow on Snapchat (@liz.adamsss) and is doing a really fun health kick right now so she’s sharing lots of great recipes. If you don’t follow her already, definitely do!
SURVEY: ME, YOU, AND MONEY: Though it is a long read, Victoria conducted a survey earlier this year where she had couples answer questions about how they split up their finances. She then culled the results, and wrote a recap post on the findings, which you can read in full here. Whether your single or partnered up, it’s definitely an insightful read that leads to a lot of self-reflection about how you handle and view money.
NYT’S CORNER OFFICE COLUMN: One of my favorite lunchtime indulgences, this column interviews top-level executives about business, their careers, management, and the interview questions they like to ask. Some of my favorite profiles include: Jessica Hellin of Stella & Dot, Cindy Holland of Netflix, Jan Singer of Spanx, Kathleen Finch of HGTV, and Liz Rodbell of Lord & Taylor.

Thanks lady! So nice to see you last week! xo
I hope you got to relax this week Katie! As rewarding as blogging is, it does require a lot of time and energy and when you’re juggling other things, it can become overwhelming at times! Sometimes, you need to give yourself a time out and just be in the moment!
Thanks for recommending these blogs. I especially enjoyed Jess’ blog! Hope you have a great weekend 🙂
