I haven’t shown much—or any—of my bedroom in this Arlington apartment that I’ve called home for a little over a year now, mainly because I’ve been spending my money on other, more visible areas of my apartment—like my balcony! Last year, I used my tax refund to buy a new mattress, and this Black Friday, I finally bought a proper bed—so once that arrives, I’ll definitely give you all a little tour and update on other plans I have for this space.
But today, I wanted to pop in with a quick update. If you’ve been a longtime reader, you know I purchased this vintage green dresser several years ago; in my Dupont studio, it had a very visible spot in my home, but in this apartment, I moved it back into my bedroom. For the most part, I styled it the same way I’ve always had it.
When I got promoted at work earlier this year, I wanted to treat myself to something special to mark the occasion—and I usually try to do this by buying a ‘splurge’ piece for my home. Inslee has long been one of my favorite artists, and this summer right around the time I got promoted, she released her ‘Bathers’ series prints. I loved these so much, and decided they would be my promotion gift to myself—I purchased Bather No. 4 and Bather No. 6, seen here.
For my birthday, my mom gave me a gift card to Framebridge, so I finally got these beautiful Bathers framed! I went back and forth for a long time on what frame to have these done in, but ultimately decided on Olympia, which is a gold frame with black sides—since these Bather prints are somewhat moody, I thought this style would be a great complement to the art.
As I was figuring out where to put this pair, I couldn’t find a good place in my apartment where they could hang together. I put Bather No. 6 on my dresser one day to get her out of the way for vacuuming, and it turns out, I accidentally found the perfect place for it! I love how it looks leaning against the framed piece of wallpaper I have from the Beverley Hills Hotel.
I still need to find a place for Bather No. 4, but I am sure I can find the perfect place for her!
