72 Hours in Palm Beach + Jupiter, Florida

Last month, my boyfriend, Matt, and I jetted down to South Florida for a long weekend and it could not have come at the more perfect time to escape the DC winter weather — when we left for the airport, it was 20 degrees! We were in town from Thursday through Sunday, and spent time exploring both Palm Beach and Jupiter. It was such a fun trip, as we created an itinerary that was a good mix of history, shopping, dining, and relaxing by the water. So, I wanted to share a quick list of what I’d recommend if you’re planning your own trip!

Palm Beach

I also have recommendations from a previous trip in this post!

Henry Morrison Flagler Museum

I’ve never met a historic home I didn’t love, and Whitehall, the home of railroad tycoon and Standard Oil founder, Henry Flagler, did not disappoint! The home is open to the public, and we really enjoyed the self-guided audio tour, which took a little over an hour. As with the Gilded Age mansions I’ve toured in Newport, the home’s interior design was absolutely stunning — as were the grounds that are right on the water. I’d highly recommend taking a tour the next time you’re in town — you learn so much about the history of Palm Beach, in addition to the Flagler family.

Lycette

I staretd needlepointing this year, so I had to stop by Lycette, a needlepoint shop, when I was in town! The store was so cute, and they even had a couch where Matt could post up while I picked out some canvases and threads.

Buccan

Buccan has been on my bucket list for years, and it did not disappoint! This is a place to see and be seen, and the food and service were excellent. I grabbed a reservation the day they opened on Resy, which I recommend you do as well if you want to go. We split everything and enjoyed the pork empanadas, buratta, scallops, the burger, and a delicious corn pasta dish. Plus, they had matchbooks!

HMF at The Breakers

Following Buccan, we went over to The Breakers for a nightcap. Putting it out into the universe now that I would love to stay at The Breakers at some point in my life! Before grabbing our drinks at HMF (named for, you guessed it, Henry Morrison Flagler), we walked around the hotel and it was absolutely stunning! There’s also a popular seafood restaurant in the back where the bar is a fish tank. Fun!

West Palm Beach Green Market

If I lived in Palm Beach, I would be at this greenmarket every weekend! It was huge, spanning several city blocks that they shut down to car traffic. Half of the market was dedicated to all sorts of food vendors — we stopped to enjoy some baklava and arancini balls, both of which were delicious. The other half was shopping! They had all kinds of antique shops, artisans selling their handmade wares, and clothing. I purchased some vintage magazine advertisements, a tennis racket from the 40s, and some really cute fabric cosmetic bags. I could have been there all day!

where to stay in Palm Beach

Jupiter —

Dune Dog Cafe

This place is one of my new favorites! It’s not on the water, but gives off the perfect “beach bar” vibe since it’s an open-air restaurant with a really simple menu — think burgers, fries, hot dogs, chicken tenders fried fish sandwiches. I’d go back in a heart beat!

Berry Fresh Cafe

We ate breakfast here one morning and it reminded me a lot of Big Bad Breakfast, which is one of my favorite chains throughout the south. They had an extensive menu and everything was delish! I crafted my own omelette and it came with home fries, a breakfast meat, and an English muffin — loved it.

Utiki Beach

If you’re in Jupiter, you have to come here for dinner. It’s right on the water, overlooking the Jupiter lighthouse, and the food is delicious, whether you want surf or turf. I did one of my favorite meals, which is fried chicken on a Cobb salad. This place is popular, so I recommend grabbing a reservation or plan on waiting a couple of hours. Though, this is one of those places where the wait is half the fun — you can easily grab a drink at the bar and enjoy it right on the water.

Guanabanas

I loved this place so much — it was probably my favorite place we got drinks the entire trip! It reminded me a lot of Seacrets in OCMD—only a bit classier, hah! The space was massive, with a tropical, island-inspired atmosphere, complete with lush plants and trees woven into the decor. Plus, they had orange crushes! We grabbed our drinks and took them down to the Adirondack chairs they had overlooking the intracoastal waterway.

Square Grouper Tiki Bar

We finished up our Jupiter night here, and it was another fun bar right on the water! They had live music the night we were there, which made for a really fun way to cap off a great day.

Juno Beach

Going to the beach in February? Talk about a dream! We grabbed Pub Subs and spent an afternoon at Juno Beach. There’s a great public entrance with bathrooms and showers, and our hotel had beach chairs and towels for guests to use. The surf was rough for swimming and the water was a bit cold for my taste, but we had the best time going on a beach walk, collecting shells, and enjoying some High Noons.
