2018 Gift Guides: For People Who are Always Down for a Drink

How is it two days until Thanksgiving?! I’m back today with my fourth gift guide of the season—definitely be sure to check out my Christmas list, gifts for the colorful home, and the things I love for travel.

Tomorrow I have a half day at work and then I’m heading home to Fairfax for a few days for the holiday. My dad’s side of the family gets together for a big Thanksgiving feast, and it is one of my favorite days of the year. I really love having a big extended family around this time of year—I consider myself very lucky to have cousins that are also friends! Both of my grandparents on my dad’s side of the family have passed away, but I know they would be so happy that we are keeping the Urban family Thanksgiving tradition alive.

Today’s gift guide is a fun one—it’s gifts for those people in your life who are always down for a drink or are v. proud of their bar carts. I’ve got some really fun things to recommend—cheers!

This past weekend, I went wine tasting with several of my blogger besties (turned real life friends). A full recap is coming soon, but while we were at Zephaniah Farm Vineyard, Bonnie, one of the owners, turned us all on to two really cool products. The first is this Menu Wine Breather Carafe—it decants a bottle of wine in under three minutes! Simply put the decanter on top of the bottle of wine and flip it over! You can then serve it right out of the carafe or or flip it back over once it’s done and pour the aerated wine back into the bottle and serve from the original bottle. As an added bonus, it’s a great party trick!

The second product she recommended was the ArT wine preserver spray. Ever find yourself in a situation where you just want one glass of wine, but don’t want to waste the whole bottle? Simply spray this preserver spray into the bottle and recork! It takes the air out of the bottle and makes your wine last longer. As someone who lives alone and enjoys a quality glass of wine every now and then, I can’t recommend this one enough!

I also love gifting cool cocktail books to those in my life who appreciate a unique drink. A Spot at the Bar not only has a clever name, but is a well-designed recipe book with lots of insight from the founders of The Everleigh, Australia’s best cocktail bar, which is the same team behind Milk & Honey in NYC. Assouline prints so many of my favorite coffee table books, and this Vintage Cocktails book is a stunner with recipes for many near-forgotten drinks.

This stainless steel wine cooler is the epitome of form and function—I’ve noticed lately the right temperature on wine really makes a difference!

How fun is this wine time conversation game for a friends get-together or family holiday gathering? If you prefer, something like this would be super easy to DIY and would make a really special gift.

Get your hands on this Ullo wine purifier ASAP—maybe even ahead of the holidays, hah! It uses selective sulfite capture technology that not only filters out sulfates and sediments (read: no more headaches) but aerates it, too, restoring wine—table or vintage—to its natural, drinkable state. Sign! Me! Up!

The rabbit is hands-down the best corkscrew I have ever and will ever use! At $50, it’s definitely not the cheapest corkscrew, but it is worth every penny. If you’re looking for something more affordable, this jingle bell bottle opener is super cute!

How cute are these Be Merry and Spread Cheer double Old Fashioned glasses? These would be a great gift along with a nice bottle of spirits.

I am obsessed with this cheers ice scoop! It’s festive, but can be used year-round, and would elevate even the cheapest ice bucket or cooler!

If someone in your life is especially interested in custom cocktails, this one pint infusion kit paired with this citrus infusion pack would be such a thoughtful and unique gift.

I love these gem cocktail picks—they are super chic and would even be a beautiful bar cart display. These matching wine charms would also make a cute set!
