As I was reading through the comments on my one year anniversary post, I was so overwhelmed by all your kind words—thank you, thank you, thank you!
I also noticed another recurring theme in your comments—there are a lot of new readers around here, so I thought instead of our usual Friday Link Love, I would share 10 facts you might not know about me.
My friend Jenn over at Southern Anchors recently shared 10 facts about her, and I loved reading it, especially since we share the same penchant for Kraft Mac and Cheese. I hope you like getting to know me a little bit better, too, and feel free to share something fun about yourself in the comments below—we’re all friends here!
So without further ado, let’s hop to it, shall we?
1. One thing that’s been on my bucket list since I was probably 13 is to travel to all 50 states by the time I am 50. I’m 24 now and have been to 26 states, so I’m definitely on track!
2. I drink at least 100 ounces of water a day, but if I could, I’d drink Diet Mountain Dew all the time. No seriously, my colleagues at work sometimes refer to me as “the Diet Mountain Dew girl,” and then come begging to me when they need their 3 pm caffeine fix.
3. Reading blogs has long been a pastime of mine, and one of the main sources of inspiration for starting this blog. My daily “must-reads” include: Corals and Cognacs, The Stripe, Sequins and Stripes, Mix and Match Mama (anyone else a sucker for ‘Mommy Blogs’?), A Cup of Jo, Blessed by Brenna, Cupcakes and Cashmere, The College Prepster, and Design Darling.
(I also read all my DC blogger babes: Monica, Bree, Kristyn, Alicia, Nicole, and Jenn!)
4. My favorite food is Mexican—just ask my roommate, chips and guacamole come home with me every week from the grocery store and fajitas are a staple on my menu.
5. While we are on the topic of food, one of my biggest budget busters is buying lunch out. Sweet Green is definitely my go-to (besides Chipotle, of course), and because I am such a creature of habit, they know my custom order.
6. I do marketing for a real estate developer as my day job, and I love my coworkers (and our bocce team and our dinner club and our Friday bar cart…you get the point). It is the perfect first job since it combines my love of creative thinking and HGTV.
7. One of the things I am most proud of is when I lived in New York City during the summer of 2012. While I ultimately decided not to stick around full time, I pushed myself far past the limits of my comfort zone and learned that if you set your mind to something, you can do it. Added bonus? Once you know how to navigate New York, any city you visit seems small.
8. My middle name is Teal, hence ‘A Touch of Teal.’ It’s also my grandma’s maiden name.
9. My favorite class in college was taught by my eventual American Studies major advisor and was on Disney. We talked about everything from Walt Disney the man, to the theme parks, to Celebration, Florida. The one thing she wouldn’t let us talk about? The Disney Renaissance, as we were to close to it to academically analyze it.
10. Long before William and Kate hit the scene, royal genealogy was very fascinating to me—probably because of the movie Anastasia. My favorite modern-day royal? Charlotte Casiraghi, granddaughter of Princess Grace.

Thanks Louise! Glad we share a love of Mexican :]
Thanks for the shoutout girl! No surprises here, but let’s just say we need to talk extensively about Mexican food and hydration habits, hah! Have a good weekend!! xoxo
Of course, Happy Friday! So glad we can grab Mexican soon! xo
Loving that outfit!!!!
Thanks Jasmine! xo
That yellow tassel though!
Right?! xo
Love this! I wrote a major research paper for one of my senior classes on Disney and it was one of my favorite papers to write! Disney is such an interesting topic to study.
Thanks Bree! Disney papers are the best to write because they don’t even really feel like work! xo
That wall is amazing – love your outfit 🙂 I would love to explore the states too – bit harder for me as I am in the UK! But I will get there!
Thanks so much Rowan! I’d love to explore the UK – we can trade sometime :]
Your day job sounds fantastic – I love finding out about peoples jobs outside of blogging!! Your middle name is awesome! I just love that (and super cool that it’s after your grandmother). NYC is crazy – I visit 2 times a year to see my best friend and am always feeling so lost – I did however navigate my way around one day when she had to work – I was pretty impressed with myself!
Aw, thanks Sam! It is a great time. I find people’s ‘day jobs’ fascinating as well! Like Frank Sinatra said, if you can make it there, you can make it anywhere ;]!
I love your 10 facts and wish I could have taken a Disney class in college. MAJORLY jealous!
Happy Friday, love!
XO, Nicole
Aw thanks girl! HAPPY FRIDAY! xo
Your photos are gorgeous. I’m a new reader, also, and I did enjoy learning more about you! I love HGTV- obsessed actually!
Thanks Casey! Isn’t HGTV the best?!
So nice to get to know you better.
Beside that, guuuuurl I’m loving those boots you’re wearing!
Thanks so much! Super comfy too :]
I have not had a Mountain Dew in years and now I’m suddenly craving one. A college-level Disney course sounds like so much fun. Five-year-old me probably did enough ‘research’ on Disney in the 90s to easily get an A. What a cool class. Thanks for linking some of the blogs you love. I read a lot of the same ones but I haven’t heard of others. I’ll have to check them out. Have a great day!
Girl, I can send you some ;]. Yes! I loved learning about Disney – it’s always easy to learn when you’re interested in the topic. I love finding new blogs, too, so if you have any favorites, feel free to share! xo
I think it’s awesome that you’ve already been to 26 states! I’ve only been to 4 (including the one I live in!). I’m sure you can make the 50 by your 50th!
Thanks Christina! I am sure you’ll get to more soon, too!
I was wondering where Teal came from! 🙂 This list is so fun – such a great idea and a good way to share more of yourself (that doesn’t necessarily come up in normal blog post fodder) with your readers!
Now you know :]! Thanks, Maddy! Always fun to get to know the person behind the screen.
You are adorable and that bag is seriously fabulous! I loved Anastasia and your middle name is so unique!

Thanks Erin! You’re too sweet xo
this was a fun post! I had no clue your middle name was real; now your blog name makes even more sense! I also love that you are obsessed with Mt. Dew! I have my own obsession with Barq’s root beer and if I could drink it 24/7, I totally would.
Thanks Chelsea! Yeah! Such a fun play on my name, while also still just being fun name in general. Barqs Root Beer sounds good, too! Sometimes you just have to treat yourself :]
I love this, thank you for sharing! I love getting to know new people through blogs. I’m quite new myself and should probably do a post like this…I think it’s so fun! Have a great weekend and it was nice to meet you!! xx Ashleigh @SimplyWright
SO glad you enjoyed it, would love to read yours! Nice to meet you too, Ashleigh! xo
I’m glad I’m not the only one who has been a royal fan/history buff/whatever since before Will & Kate were big! I follow royals from most of the current royal families and am a huge royal history buff.
Yes! I am a huge royal family history buff too – we’ll have to chat sometime. I find it all FASCINATING!
Loved learning a little more about you!! Thanks for including me in your “bloggers you read” portion. Loved meeting you through the blog process! Have a great weekend 🙂

Of course, girl! SO glad we meet through blogging too. Have a good one, KR! xo
I love learning about bloggers! I’m also a big fan of Diet Mountain Dew, but my true weakness is frozen coffee drinks.
Thanks Jaime! Everyone has their go-to drink! I also love Diet Coke.
I love mexican food too ! I should post some simple Mexican recipes on my blog sometime
That would be wonderful! And yummy :]
Love this! I learned so much about you! Love that you got your blog name form your middle name!
Thanks Lauren :] xo
Great post! I really enjoyed reading this, and I love the outfit…so pretty!
So glad you enjoyed it Valerie! xoxo
Number 7 totally resonated with me! I moved to NYC n 2007 and in comparison, everywhere else seems small!
Yeah! I think a lot of people have that experience.
wow.. your middle name is teal? that’s so unique! 😀
I’d want to live in NYC for a short time too! 😀
thanks for sharing all these about you, glad to know you, dear!
Have a great weekend!
Animated Confessions
Yeah! It’s my grandma’s maiden name :] You should take the plunge and try NYC! You can always go home. xo
Great photoshoot! Didn’t know teal was your middle name!
Thanks Anna! xo
I just love this post. I love getting to know the blogger behind the blog. PS we follow almost all the same blogs! Great minds 🙂
Thanks Kristen! Great minds indeed :]
