Yay! So excited to kick the week off with a wear to work post!
This is one of my most popular series—and one I managed to somehow overlook since October? Not quite sure how that happened since I’ve been at work nearly every day since—but, there’s no time like the present to pick it back up, right?
Winter is probably my least favorite season to dress for work. The walk to work is unbearably cold, so I often wear warmer shoes and then change into my flats or heels once I’m in the comfort of my space heater bubble. And, of course, the layers don’t stop there—between my gloves, coat, and a scarf, there’s just so much stuff. I much prefer warmer weather when you don’t need 10 extra items just to go outside.
While usually I might pair this Top Shop Spot Ruffle Flute Dress with sweater tights and booties, when a warm day rolls around—like this past Saturday when Monica and I went up to Dumbarton Oaks to shoot this outfit—I take full advantage.
Now a few things about this Top Shop Spot Ruffle Flute Dress that I picked up from Nordstrom on a recent trip. First, I found it runs a tad large, so I ended up sizing down from my usual size. And second, depending on the light, the color either appears black or navy. Online, it’s listed as navy in color, but when I tried it on in the store and later at my apartment, it looked more black. But, in natural light, it definitely looks more navy. So I think in reality, it’s a very dark navy.
Regardless of its color, I don’t have navy heels but these J Crew Factory Olivia Suede Pumps have quickly become my go-to work shoes. They’re great with dresses, but also work really well with crop pants. They’re light and comfortable enough that I can wear them all day if needed—so if you’re in the market for a new block heel, I can’t recommend these enough.
